Sandrine Vaton

Sandrine Vaton is a professor at IMT Atlantique, in the Computer Science department. She is the director of the doctoral school “Sciences Pour l’Ingénieur et le Numérique” and also the head of the Math&Net team at the LabSTICC laboratory. She was for a long time the Gender Equality Officer at IMT Atlantique and handed over the role in 2024 to her colleague Pascaline Pré.
She conducts research in the field of statistical analysis of measurement data in telecommunications networks. The application domains include quality of service, quality of experience, network security, and resilience.
From a methodological perspective, she favors machine learning-based approaches. She is also interested in the implementation of measurement in operational contexts and collaborates with industry partners.
She holds an engineering degree from Télécom Paris, a DEA in probabilities from the University of Paris 6, a PhD in signal processing (Télécom Paris), and a habilitation to supervise research in computer science from the University of Rennes 1.
